Panda Planner Review

I have been looking for a planner to help me keep track of everything, life related and Homestead related. I saw an advertisement for a planner on Facebook and they had a 10% off coupon deal going so I went to look at it. For some unknown reason, I could not, for the life of me, get that code to work from the Facebook post. I decided to contact the company for assistance and I had honestly just given up and messaged them a second time saying never mind about the assistance because it just wasn’t worth it to me anymore. The following day, they messaged me back with a link for a free planner. I was absolutely shocked because I had planned on paying for it, but had just gotten frustrated with the discount code. I clicked the link and they shipped me a free planner. This is seriously amazing customer service to start with, but the planner arrived today and oh my goodness it’s perfect. I want to make it very clear that I receive absolutely nothing for posting this review. They sent me a free planner because I couldn’t get a discount code to work (I sent screenshots of the error messages from Amazon. I really couldn’t figure it out.) So, let me show you this awesome planner.

They come in different colors, but this was the one they had the Facebook special on that day. I don’t care what color it is.

If you look really closely you can see the panda head logo is embossed into the cover. This is a hardcover planner and it’s really well made.

The very first page has tips on how to use the planner and the website listed at the top. It is printed on 100% recycled paper!!! Yay!! No wastefulness and recycling makes me happy.

It has 3 sections (the pages do fold flat, but I was doing this with one hand so they look like they aren’t bound properly. I assure you they are bound straight and this is my weirdness.

So there’s monthly, weekly, and daily sections (daily only has pages for 90 days, but monthly and weekly are 6 months and 14 weeks) so. If you are the kind of person who wants as new planner on a regular basis like myself, it’s absolutely perfect. They have weekly planners and yearly ones as well. So, if you want one, I would strongly suggest looking at the specifics for each. Some people prefer an entire year in one planner, but I would get bored with that quickly. I actually like the 90 day planner. Hubby wanted a yearly one.

It is completely undated, which is really nice because I really suck at keeping up with a planner.

Each section is divided so you can easily find where they begin.

They even included bookmark ribbons to mark the month, week, and day and each is a different color so, it’s easy to see which is which.

I am excited about this because I may actually be able to keep up with this planner because it has everything I need and it is easy to make lists, add in reminders, appointments, and even a spot for daily notes.

There are a handful of blank note pages in the back, with grid dots, which I love because I sketch out designs for garden beds, additions to the coop, and other stuff for the Homestead. I keep a stash of graph paper in my purse, but this is so much more convenient.

This is an amazing thing right here. Pockets are always helpful, but this one has fabric instead of just paper. It will actually last through being crammed full of receipts, warranties that are waiting to be filed away, and even scraps of paper with doodles. Additionally there is an elastic strap to hold the book closed when it’s tossed in a bag, a drawer, or wherever you keep a planner.

I have always been a journal keeper and I have kept up with them religiously, but my journals are completely blank so I can draw, paint, or jot down my dreams when I wake up or my goals, thoughts, feelings whenever the mood strikes. With a planner, it’s more about organization and time management and I have always had issues with time management. I have lists everywhere to remind me what needs to be purchased, tasks to be completed, I have a calendar on the fridge and another in my phone, but that’s the furthest thing from organized. This is exactly what I have been looking for during my search for a planner. There are oodles of different colors, some planners are dated, some are un-dated, but they have so many options available.

Panda Planner was also kind enough to give me a discount code for ALL of their products (this is NOT the same code I used and had issues with when I tried to order.) The code is entered at checkout on Amazon (I tested it prior to this post.)

Please feel free to share it. I have already filled out all of the months and weeks for my planner. I have also filled in birthdays, holidays, appointments, special occasions and everything else I need to keep track of for the year. I ordered another one for hubby for racing because he has a spiral notebook he has been using and he hates it. He has already said that this planner looks like it will hold up better being tossed about in the trailer and the toolbox at the track. Again, ai receive absolutely nothing for writing this review. I truly believe that this planner is amazing and extremely well made. If you are looking for one, I highly recommend this one. I do wish it had sleeves for business cards or something like that and an address book section because I am constantly losing everyone’s addresses. I will probably suggest this to them, but I am happy without those things because I can easily shove business cards into the pocket in the back and write addresses in the notes section.

Until next time…

It’s Here!!! Fab Fit Fun Spring 2019 Box Review

I cannot even begin to explain how happy I was to see my box on the back steps when I let Miss Mia out to potty this morning. Giddy isn’t even remotely close enough to describe my joy.

Yes, I ripped it open as quickly as I could.

Before I dig through it and show y’all everything here’s a pretty picture of how nicely they pack everything into these boxes. If you want this box, click this link.

This is my box it is worth $414. (I added extra items from the choices and add ons galore, but this is the actual subscription without add ons or extras. Not to worry I will include the extras too.)

I am going to lay every single thing out and tell you all about it. I have used everything already throughout the day so, I will give my honest opinion on everything too.

This didn’t quite fit in the other picture so, I gave it it’s own picture.

This was a mystery choice item. A friend also did the mystery choice for her box and received a different product from the same brand. She received a lip crayon. I know the photo is terrible. I have another and I will post it later in this post with my review.

Ok so, I will go product by product and then delve into extras and add ons. Each box comes with eight full size items. With my link, you will pay $39.99 for your first box. The regular price for this subscription is $49.99 per box, which comes once per season /four times a year. I receive a credit, which can be used to purchase add ons or items during the Fab Fit Fun edit sales for each person who subscribes using my link. I am eternally grateful to everyone who uses my link. I didn’t spend a single extra penny of my own money aside from paying for my subscription because people signed up using my link and I had a nice amount of credits to spend. (I got to go shopping for myself and I never really shop for myself aside from my three subscription boxes and cleaning supplies from Grove Collaborative so, thank you very much, for funding my splurges.)

I am going to start with these super cute cat eye sunglasses from Quay Australia. I honestly would never have given these a second look in the store. The other option was a pair of aviator style sunglasses from the same company or a sleep mask or a picnic set (I added the picnic set) I was nervous about these because I have a hard time with sunglasses. I try on so many pairs and they are always huge on my face and make me look like a bug. These are super cute, a bit big compared to the style I normally wear, but no bug eyes. Yay!!!

Next up, Ouai leave in conditioner. This stuff smells amazing. It leaves my hair so soft and helps me with tangles. I have baby fine hair and combing through it, even with a wide tooth comb, is near impossible because my hair becomes one giant knot. Leave in conditioner is ALWAYS welcome. I had just recently purchased Living Proof shampoo, conditioner, perfecting spray (a leave in conditioner) and a few other products so, while those are my favorite, this bottle will go in the upstairs bathroom so, I can detangle after a soak in the tub. (Get the box here)

I didn’t have to open it to know I love it. I have a travel size already opened. 😁

This is a new one for me. I have never heard of Tula nor have I ever heard of probiotics being added to facial cleanser or skincare in general. I was pleasantly surprised when I removed my makeup this evening. It not only removed a majority of my makeup, but it removed the dirt and oil, sweat, and whatever else was on my skin and it did so WITHOUT drying out my skin. It didn’t make my skin angry either. (waterproof mascara and matte liquid lipstick usually require a makeup wipe or micellar water so, this isn’t abnormal and definitely not a reason to say no to a facial cleanser)

For my first experience, I am definitely happy and will use it for a week in place of my preferred cleanser to see if I have any reactions or if it actually improves my skin. So far, I like it and the bottle is quite big compared to most cleanser bottles. Get the box

Next up is a product I am VERY familiar with because I have been using it for a while now. Dr. Brandt Needles No More No More Baggage Eye Gel.

Here is my opened tube. First, allow me to explain that this isn’t your typical eye gel by any means. I don’t use this every single day. There are multiple reasons why I don’t use it every day, but the two main reasons are, it is expensive and it isn’t what you think it is because it isn’t regular eye gel or eye cream. It isn’t exactly a gel either. It comes out of the tube as a peachish colored pasty gel. I know that sounds gross and why would anyone put that on their face? I use it because it WORKS! It really does work and it works so freaking quickly and keeps working all day long. So, imagine you are having an extreme allergy attack and your eyes are super puffy and almost bordering on swollen, imagine you got no sleep and you are staring into the mirror at huge puffy eyes, imagine you just got off of a red eye and you look like you are having a major allergic reaction, this is the product you need. You basically smear this party stuff under your eyes and wait a few minutes. It dries to a powdery finish, but before it dries it feels like someone put ice cubes under your eyes cooling all that puffiness. Then after a few minutes you look in the mirror and BAM! What puffiness? It’s magically just gone like it was never there. This stuff is amazing and it works so freaking well. I just wish it didn’t cost so much. You only need a little bit so, the tube will last a long time. It is worth it if you are like me, allergic to everything and sleep like garbage. Get the box

Remember that mystery item, here it is again and with a better picture. treStique makes a very interesting line of stick products that are very similar to crayons for your face.

This bad boy is a chunky multitasker. It comes with a built in blending sponge on the bottom and the lid has a nifty magnet so it stays closed and you don’t risk taking a chunk out of the product when you are trying to remove the cap. It opens smoothly and closes as soon as the magnet gets close to the base. These sticks are so versatile. This one is basically a face stick. You can use it as blush, eyeshadow, highlighter, whatever strikes your fancy. I know the lighting is not helpful, it is a neutral peachy shade and definitely not as dark as it looks.

I was very excited about this product. I LOVE S’well bottles. I have a smaller one and it is purple. This one is much bigger than my tiny toss in your purse size. The color/pattern was completely random and there were some cute patterns available, but I was hoping for a neutral color and no pattern. I received a black one and I am just thrilled to itty bitty pieces because black means my darling hubby will take it to work because it’s not purple or loud. It will keep your ice cold water cold for up to 24 hours. You can use it for any beverage, hot or cold, but it really is the perfect water bottle because it really keeps your water cold. It is spill proof, leak proof, and made of metal so no BPA plastic is involved. You definitely need a bottle brush if you are going to use it for any other liquid. I want more of these bottles.

Champagne Charcoal Scrub by Manna Kadar. This stuff smells so good. I tested a bit on my hands just to see how good the scrubbing power was and WOW! It gets bubbly while you scrub, but it took care of the flaky dead skin on my hands and they were so soft when I got done. They weren’t in desperate need of lotion afterwards, but I put some on anyway. I can’t wait to use this at the end of a soak in the tub. Maybe, just maybe, it will help with the dreaded winter itch from dry skin in desperate need of hydration. I sure hope so. Get the box

This is the last item from my base subscription and it was chosen on a whim. It is the Deux Lux Demi Backpack and I thought it was adorable and would be perfect to carry snacks, drinks, and sunscreen when we go for hikes in the wildlife refuge. I wasn’t wrong. It’s a small little pack, I think it is meant to be more like a purse. It says, “for best results do not exceed 22 lbs” so, that screams purse to me. Also, the straps adjust in a very strange manner.

Those little metal buckles are how the straps adjust. They go right through those buckles, but the ends hang loose once tightened. Loosening or tightening can be done rather easily while wearing the backpack. So, all of these things mean it is meant to be a fashion accessory like a purse. It will work perfectly for what I got it for. It is made of very thick and sturdy canvas and vegan leather. Very well made.

Okay onto extras and add ons.

This was the holy grail item for me for this season’s box. A Show Me Your Mumu robe… I was so excited about this robe. I have washed it and dried it and then, I put it on. Get the box

I am 5 ft 1.5 in and the back came down past my knees. The front came just to my knees. Please, ignore my hair, I know it looks like it hasn’t been washed in a week. I have a mask in my hair and it just looks so dirty it’s killing me to post this.

I seriously just tied it as quickly as possible so, I could get a picture. Notice you cannot see my pajama shorts. It is definitely long enough for me to run around the house in my shorty shorts and not accidentally show my son my rear end. It is polyester but feels like a cotton sheet. I may adjust where the belt loops are because it just feels strange tied there. It says one size on the tag, but that is pure BS. There is no such thing as one size fits all. I would say this would fit up to a size 22 (US sizes) or so. Maybe a bit larger, but the sleeves would be the hardest part about this robe fitting properly. They are quite roomy on my body, I know it doesn’t look that way because my arms are down. I am a size 8-10 (US) if that is helpful. Now, for the downside…. I know I suck for this.

It’s rather sheer. Not completely see through when worn, but it is thin material and if the light hits it right, all of your bits will be seen. As I said, I was wearing a tank top and a pair of short pajama shorts under it for the above photos. Do I love it? Definitely. It is exactly what I expected. I will adjust the belt loops and it will be perfect.

Remember that picnic set I mentioned at the beginning, well this is it. It has everything needed for a picnic for two. Isn’t it adorable?!

It’s made by Sunnylife and comes in an adorable little zippered case.

Picnics in the wildlife refuge are definitely in my future.

My son’s girlfriend asked me to add this because she doesn’t have full customization because she is a seasonal subscriber so, I got her this body sander thing. 🤣😂 Seriously though, it is a Daily Concepts body brush and she is thoroughly excited about it.

Now for add ons. I don’t normally spend much on add ons unless they have Living Proof hair products on sale.

These were in the Winter Editor’s box and I wanted them. They are Pier One mini prep bowls. They hold about a cup and a half of whatever you need them to hold. Also, super cute.

I know the writing is difficult to see, I’m sorry about that. These are Corsx Acne pimple master patches. They are hydrocoloid bandage dots for acne. they are clear sticky dots that suck the grossness out of a pimple. I know, that sounds truly disgusting. It is, but they can heal a pimple almost overnight. You can either pop the pimple or stick it with a pin when it comes to a head. Then, stick on a patch, go to bed, and wake up to the dot that was clear, turning white. They work amazingly well. This is a 3 pack of the patches and well, I use them and my son uses them. They are amazing little things.

I love the Ahava brand. Seriously everything they make is amazing. This is a one bath package of dead sea salt. Dump the whole package into the tub and soak. Perfect evening in my mind.

This little bar is amazing. It demolishes acne on your face and body. The instructions aren’t like normal soaps, you lather up and let it sit and work its magic.

During warmer months, I break out on my chest and back and this deals with that issue.

This was a freebie. It was a sponsored product and everyone who had at least $15 worth of items in their cart could add this until the supply was depleted. It is apparently available at Target. I will be giving it to my son’s girlfriend because I don’t like deodorant. I prefer antiperspirant because I don’t enjoy being wet. I am always sweating even in the middle of winter.

GlamGlow youthmud (this is the best clay based mask ever)

St. Tropica hair growth vitamins

I have been taking these for two months and my hair has grown in far stronger than before and it is beginning to thicken up a bit. They have biotin, but there are a bunch of other natural ingredients and any vitamins are worth taking when you are like me and forget to eat during the day. 😂 I am trying to get my hair past my butt so, hair vitamins are worth trying for a few more months. (I am pretty close, my hair is to my butt.)

These are pretty self explanatory. The green one is for my son, the blue one is mine. Corkcicle cups keep drinks cold in the Oklahoma sun.

A giant round towel by Sunnylife. (It is really a towel, Terry cloth and all.)

A giant XL towel from SandCloud. (This is not Terry cloth) It is very tightly woven, almost like canvas. It is supposed to be sand proof meaning sand won’t come through the weave and won’t stick to the fabric. I will be using it as a picnic blanket. I can’t wait. It is approximately 7 ft × 5 ft. (Approximately) It’s HUGE.

If you made it all the way to the bottom of this post, I am in awe. I am also going to reward you with kitty pics.

They love whenever any packages come because they get to play in the box and play with packing materials.

Allure Beauty Box February 2019

This is my favorite little box. (Fab Fit Fun is my overall favorite because it is just amazing)

Allure has changed their box a bit since my last post about this particular box. (I know I am slacking on the subscription box posts.) They have switched from their iconic red box to a little pouch with snap closure. I believe it is vinyl, but it is plastic of some sort, without any logo or image on the pouch. I really like them because they are versatile and I don’t have to modge podge a collage or fabric onto the box anymore when I want to repurpose it. With that being said, I will get onto the contents of February’s box.

The pouch is actually transparent, which is neat because it can probably be used for your toiletries in the airport.

First item is a Mamonde flower lab essence mask in rose. (There were multiple scent options for this item)

I love sheet masks. I really, really, really love sheet masks. They are inexpensive and you can relax and read a book, watch TV, or do what I am currently doing, write a blog while this bad boy makes your skin super happy. This particular mask is one I have used several times before and it smells heavenly. I have used every single one of the flower essence masks by Mamonde. The scent is amazing and it is similar to a whole bouquet of fresh cut roses. All of the flower essence masks smell like fresh cut flowers, NOT cheap flowery perfume. Being that it is a serum mask and not a cream type, you are supposed to pat the remaining serum into your skin after removing the mask. I don’t like the tacky feeling that serum masks leave behind so I always rinse my face afterwards. I leave the masks on longer than the recommended time because I forget to watch the clock. Two or three episodes of whatever show I am binging and I finally remember to remove the mask.

Next up is another Mamonde product. It is an oil to foam cleanser in rose of course and I am intrigued.

I have never tried an oil to foam cleanser and I am not sure how that is even possible, but I love the masks by this company so, I have zero issues trying this fascinating face wash. I will let you know how it works and if it removed my makeup because that’s the real test. Matte liquid lipstick is almost impossible to remove and waterproof mascara is even worse.

Next up is a Model Co eyeshadow trio, which is metallic.

I opened the box to take a photo, but this will probably get handed to ones of the girls. I am not a fan of metallic eyeshadow. I tend to lean towards nudes and avoid anything sparkly because fallout from the metallics and sparkly colors makes my contacts blurry. If they weren’t metallic, they would be right up my alley in terms of color.

Next up is a Moda brush, which is crease brush number M27.

I have a ton of makeup brushes (Thanks Ipsy) but this is an angled brush and seems to be less stiff compared to every other crease brush I have, which is a good thing and I will explain. An angled crease brush that isn’t stiff (less brush hairs) means the perfect size for a perfect crease and the softness is great for blending that crease. I watched the spoiler video for this box and it was designed for the perfect crease. I usually toss eyeshadow brushes in a box of extras for the girls, but I am keeping this one.

Next up is one of my absolute favorite mascaras ever created. Wander Beauty Mile High Club mascara.

This mascara alone made my whole day. I LOVE this stuff. It doesn’t clump up and I don’t get spider lashes so, I can put on mascara, glue on falsies and my lashes are almost as long and fabulous as my husband’s. It really isn’t fair that men get these amazing long lashes that women have to use mascara and falsies to even come close to achieving. This is not a teenie tiny sample of mascara either. I would have to compare to my full size, but it looks pretty freaking close to my full size tube in my purse. I am almost positive this is a full size product. (Full size retails for $26 US.)

Next up, we have another favorite brand of mine, Brow Gal.

I have eyebrows that are absolutely insane. One day they look fabulous and the next they look like they are trying to run away in every direction. I use brow gel, but normally I use clear or just tinted gel to tame my psychotic brows. This gel has little hairs in it so, basically it makes your eyebrows look fuller, tamed, and sleek. I look forward to trying this one. The color is brown hair so, I am guessing this one wouldn’t work for everyone, which is kind of odd for Allure. Usually all of the products are sort of universal for all skin tones. (they gave a choice of color when they did a foundation) So, having something so specific to a hair color is kind of odd. I guess the universal brow color would be closest to brown because it would work for all natural hair colors except blonde and redheads. It is still a bit strange to see something that won’t work for everyone.

Finally, the last product was a random choice of three products. One was a liquid lipstick, one was a liquid eyeliner pen, and I received the third option, which is a Laritzy Cosmetics nude lip liner.

Nude is always a welcome lip color. Especially lip liner because it goes with almost all of my lipsticks. I have a few different Laritzy lip liners. They go on smoothly with no dragging. It is an actual pencil that has to be sharpened so smooth is huge because they tend to dry out. The pencil itself doesn’t crumble or break easily when you line or even fill your lips with it and the color lasts quite a while considering it is just a liner. I use mainly matte liquid lipstick that doesn’t smudge or rub off on anything so, lining my lips is important because those lipsticks are difficult to get a perfect line with when using the weirdly shaped wand. I usually line with pencil, fill with the wand, and then, I line with a brush.

Allure costs $15.00 a month and it is worth every penny. I rarely receive a product that won’t work with my super pale skin. It is really difficult to find colors that do work with my skin because I am so pale. I love that a majority of the products are universal. I subscribe to Ipsy as well and I get a LOT of products I can’t use and they have a survey regarding skin tone, hair and eye color, skin type, and they ask which products you would like to receive. Sadly they don’t seem to pay attention to any of that. Allure sends everyone the same box with one product being a random option. The other two options were a neutral color lip product and a black eyeliner. Universal products.

Obviously, there are some products, I choose not to use like metallic eyeshadow, but the colors would work for my skin tone so, even though I would not personally use it, it’s a universal product.

I took a few other photos while taking the photos I used for this post. Fizzgig was very interested in this month’s box.

He really did not care if he was in the way. (Yes, that is a Grove Collaborative flour sack towel. I am obsessed with them.)

He loves to sit on masks. I guess they feel squishy and nice under his paws.

He did get some love and snuggles afterwards.

I do not receive any compensation at all for my post about this subscription box. I am not affiliated with Allure or Allure Beauty Box, I am simply a subscriber. I will not receive anything if you sign up because I honestly don’t know how to refer someone. I don’t care about receiving anything. I love this box and it was my all time favorite until I found Fab Fit Fun, which I do receive a small bonus for referring others to subscribe. I try to be as open and honest as possible about any link I share, which compensates me in any way. So, here is the Link to subscribe. New members pay $10.00 for their first box and receive an extra product with their box as well. This product changes all the time and I honestly have no idea what that product is currently. When I signed up ages ago, it was a Doucce eyeshadow palette with four colors. Back then, there were only five products each month and they recently started adding more for some months. So, it is inexpensive, you can easily stock up your makeup, skincare, and sometimes perfume or haircare collection rather quickly. I subscribe to Ipsy and used to subscribe to Birchbox so, I was fully stocked on everything except for concealer, foundation, and translucent powder within about 4-5 months of getting those subscriptions. I cancelled Birchbox because I realized that I had almost 70 eyeliners. That was just ridiculous. I kept Ipsy because I love the bags and I will probably keep Allure forever because of the quality of the products. I have a few full size Sunday Riley products that came in my boxes. Those are ridiculous expensive and I paid $15 for the box. I am almost positive the mascara this month is full size and it is $26 so, I paid $15 for a full size mascara and all of the other products, which most are full size. I think the face wash is the only one that isn’t full size. The lip liner is full size, eyeshadow is full size so, yeah only the face wash is a travel size. It isn’t a teenie tiny single use container. If you want a good box to start with, this is my favorite little box. It is always amazing. However, you will NOT receive this box unless you subscribe while the link above still says “reserve your February box now” or something along those lines. When the box sells out, it’s gone and you will receive the March 2019 box instead, which will still be amazing and worth every penny. So, if you want this specific box, act quickly.

Until next time….

My Favorite Subscription Box

Allure Beauty Box is, by far, my favorite subscription box. I look forward to receiving it every month and have been a subscriber for well over a year. It is worth the $15.00 I spend on it each month. As I received my August 2018 box today, I thought I would show you all the unboxing.

It comes every month just like this, but wrapped in plastic with a mailing label and the contents of the box are the same for everyone unless they have a special item where you can choose the color. There was a makeup forever foundation where an email was sent out to choose your personal color of foundation. Additionally, sometimes there are two products that may come in the monthly box. You will receive one of these two items and selection is random. You find out which one when the box arrives.

The box itself is EXTREMELY sturdy and I plan on making a makeup organizer out of the boxes I have collected because I found a DIY on this specifically. (Thank you, Asia for housing some of the most creative people in the world when recycling is involved.) The DIY I found was on a Korean webpage full of ideas for building things with cardboard and boxes. I will post pictures when I finally get around to completing this DIY as well as a link to the Korean page.

So, here we go….

Immediately upon opening, there is a booklet full of information about the products in the box that month and promo codes for every item.

It really is informative, especially when you have no idea what a product is for and cannot read the teenie tiny print on the packaging.

Sometimes there is an additional coupon inside of the box. This month it was a code for Breda. I have personally never heard of this company, but I will check it out. The coupon codes do expire. This one expires in October of 2018. Based on the image on the card, I am going to assume this is a watch company. On the back of the card, it states that the products come with a two year warranty and start at $70.00, which is nice information to have.

Everything inside is packaged with only paper as packing materials and I can easily compost this small amount of paper. As you can see, there are 6 products this month. (Normally it is 5, but I think the shampoo and conditioner are considered one product.)

Let’s move on to the fun part.

This is one of my favorite brands of eyeliner and their mascara is amazing (especially the sport formula, which is actually waterproof.) This particular eyeliner is a liquid with a marker type tip. It has a very fine tip, but thicker lines can be made easily with a bit more pressure. It is also truly smudge-proof. The color is pitch black and it is a really dark black. This is a full size product, which is $22 and available here.

Next up is a Laneige lip sleeping mask. I have this product already and I love it. It is meant to be applied before bed and worn overnight. However, I apply when my lips are especially dry or chapped as well as overnight. Its thick, not sticky, and smells amazing. It has a sweet, almost fruity scent and doesn’t taste like you smeared vaseline on your lips. I am thrilled to have another container because Fall is creeping closer. (I use it daily and the other container has lasted a few months because you don’t need much.) This is a deluxe sample, the full size is $20 and available here

Next up is a Laritzy Light Sticks. This is a highlight stick with a creamy texture. Again, a little goes a long way. As I am not a normal user of highlight, I will give this to one of the girls. The color is Halo.

It’s a really pretty color. I just don’t use highlight. This can be used as cream shadow, to lighten a lip color, and for highlights while contouring. It’s a multi-use product. This is a full size product, which is $24.00 and available here

Next up, is a Caudalie moisturizing sorbet. I had no idea what this was for exactly so, I turned to the booklet. It is a facial moisturizer. I am very familiar with the brand as I have received multiple products from this brand in my subscription boxes. Their eye creams are amazing. It has a slight floral scent and the moisturizer is almost a mix between a gel and a lotion. It goes on like silk and has a slight cooling sensation. (I don’t mean burning or tingling, but cooling.) It’s comparable to a cool cloth on a hot day. This is a deluxe sample. The full size is $39 and available here.

Next is a shampoo and conditioner set from Nexxus. This is the Keraphix Damage Healing line, which is loaded with keratin to help strengthen your damaged hair. It also has black rice included in the formula. These are deluxe samples (travel size) the full size shampoo is $12.99 for 13.5 ounces, the full size conditioner is $17.99 for 13.5 ounces, which is a reasonable price for professional formulas. These products both smell amazing. A slight, but not overpowering perfume like scent and the conditioner rinses clean from my hand without feeling slimy, which is a very good sign. I have never had an issue with Nexxus products and they have been used on my hair multiple times at different salons. This specific formula is aimed at severely damaged hair. As I color my hair regularly, any product that will help strengthen it is welcome. Nexxus is a salon formula and this is probably the only reason I am familiar with the brand. I am uncertain if the formula is paraben or sulfate free. The full size products are available here.

So, this is the August 2018 Allure Beauty Box. I am very happy with the product selection this month, as well as with the sizes of the products. I received 2 full size product and 4 deluxe samples (I am counting the shampoo and conditioner as separate products.)

If you want to try the Allure Beauty Box, you can save $5 on your first box and receive a free gift when you subscribe by going here. I do NOT benefit in any way from you using this link. However, you will benefit with your first box being priced at $10 instead of $15 and receiving a free mystery gift. (When I signed up many moons ago, I received a Doucce eyeshadow palette including a magnetic palette with a mirror and 4 shadows.) The August 2018 box is still available as of (August 14, 2018). So, if you want this box I have shown, you can still order it.

Fab Fit Fun Fall Box 2018 pt 1

I finally decided that this box needed to be ordered. I have done several subscription boxes, Ipsy, Birchbox, Allure Beauty Box, Beautycon (before they stopped doing boxes), Mask Maven, Beauteque Monthly, Boxycharm, Target Beauty Box, Walmart Beauty Box, and Sephora, but this one always seemed too good to be true. Every ad I see says up to $400.00 in every box, which is $49.99. I finally looked up the price for a tote that they had in the fall box, it was $128.00 on the designer’s website. This is far more than the $50.00 price tag for the box.

These boxes have always made me want to buy it, but this particular box has a bag from Vince Camuto. His bags are amazing with price tags of $100.00 and up. That’s more than I want to spend on a bag. That link above is the exact bag for the Fall 2018 box.

The box also includes a teapot or a French press, wireless earbuds or an umbrella, tea towels, a facemask, shower gel, face scrub, and eye cream.

Total value of the box is approximately $360.00 depending upon the options you choose. The bag is customizable and has even more customization options if you pay for a year in advance ($179.99 plus tax) Shockingly, this box also ships to Alaska and Hawaii for a small shipping fee per box. I believe it was $8.00, but I didn’t read it closely because I don’t live in Alaska or Hawaii. I will share my referral link, it gives you $10.00 off your first box and gives me $15.00 off my next box. That drops the price from $49.99 plus tax to $39.99 plus tax. I am honestly looking forward to the winter box. I have looked at this box several times and just never did it. Winter’s box always has fluffy stuff like scarves or blankets. It’s very Hygge (the closest definition for this I can give is cozy). Oklahoma gets brutally cold, not because of the temperatures, but the wind cuts right through you. So, I always love blankets scarves, sweaters and anything cozy.

When the box arrives, I will share oodles of photos. I am seriously excited about this subscription because EVERYTHING is full size, which is rare for most subscription boxes. Many are samples and deluxe samples. (I still love subscription boxes though.) I get excited when I opened the mailbox and see a subscription box because it is like a present each month or each season.

Beautycon was my very first subscription box and everything was full size. I fell in love with subscription boxes right then and there. I cancelled a few of my inexpensive subscriptions to justify paying for this one because I hate spending money on myself. Hubby told me to subscribe for a full year so, I did. I will post pictures for each season’s box. I strongly recommend subscribing only when you see a box you really want. If you want to know all of the options before subscribing, just ask. If you hate the tote, (it also comes in brown) they have two sets of makeup brushes as options as well. One is silver, the other is rose gold. I think the ability to choose is kind of awesome because sometimes you have too many purses or too many makeup brushes, too many lipsticks, etc. I don’t wear much brown and black matches with everything so, I went with the black tote.

I went with the teapot instead of the French press because I have a Keurig for coffee and don’t have the patience to deal with a French press when I want coffee. I’m sure it tastes better that way, but I am just not that functional in the morning. Tea is a different story. Tea has to steep a certain time to taste right and I love cute teapots. This one is just adorable. I went with the bluetooth wireless earbuds instead of the designer umbrella because I listen to music when I clean, when I paint, when I do pretty much anything. I have a set that has the hard plastic part that hangs around your neck like a headband would, but they take forever to charge and I am constantly forgetting to charge them. This set, has no hard plastic piece it’s a small wire, I guess, that hangs around your neck instead, they are lighter and more compact. Also, I am perfectly happy with the inexpensive umbrellas we already have.

I had a few more customization options because I paid for a year of boxes at once (4 boxes)

The next option was a choice of eye cream, bath salts, and a lipstick. I went with the bath salts. I have a plethora of eye cream and eye gel samples and full size products from my other subscription boxes and I adore soaking in the tub. I also have enough lipstick to paint an elephant a neutral color. I give excess lipstick to my daughter, my daughter in law, and my sons’ girlfriends. I always get neutral tones so they look good on everyone.

The next option was between a facial exfoliant, a cream cleanser, and a day cream. This one, I went with the exfoliant because I am never going to switch from my Oil of Olay for sensitive skin because it has never done me wrong. Plus, its inexpensive enough for me to easily afford it. This particular brand of day cream is $49.00 (um ouch) I couldn’t afford that every month and the face wash is the same price. (Again ouch) So, I went with the most expensive option, the exfoliant, which runs a whopping $67.00. Beauty is expensive. I don’t use scrubs daily so, this will last quite a while. (The brand is Grown Alchemist) Switching back to my regular scrub won’t cause issues because I switch between multiple brands and types already thanks to my other subscription boxes. Once every week I exfoliate, but sometimes it’s twice a week if I get particularly sweaty or wear particularly heavy makeup. As it is summer and temperatures are rather high, I haven’t been wearing makeup because I don’t like the feeling of the makeup melting off of my face. (Gross)

I don’t know much about the couple of other items that are supposed to come in the box such as the tea towels, the body wash, or the face mask (I know it’s a sheet mask.) I only saw those products in the original video advertisement, which showed the tote and I clicked the link. There is also a discount code for this box. The code is FALL. It gives you $10.00 off the box. If you don’t want to use my referral link, I want you to still get $10.00 off of your box. I don’t want anyone to have to pay full price for their first box. I used the code FALL because it was listed in the advertisement. So, I know it works.

So, I am excited about this box and even more excited about the Winter box because I know it will have super cozy stuff inside. I will let y’all know as soon as I know, what is in the winter box. I will also let y’all know what the customization options are for each season. Also, in addition to customizing, you have the option to get both options for an additional fee. The earbuds or umbrella were not available when I subscribed, but I could have added the Frech press for $10 or the lipstick and eye cream for the same price. The same price applies to the cleanser and day cream, which were over $40 each for original price so $20 extra and you could have the whole skincare set. That’s pretty awesome. Additionally other products are marked down as add on items. I added two items to my box. A Tarte tartiest lip paint, which is normally $20 and I paid $10. The other item is EIR post session salt, which is yet another bath salt. Regular price is $20 and I paid $9. Those discounts are 50% and 55% off retail, which is amazing. I LOVE Tarte tartiest lip paint. It goes on and stays on all day long no matter how much I eat or drink. It doesn’t make my lips chapped, it doesn’t look caked on, its matte, and I am obsessed.

So, there you have it, a full informational report of all of the options for the fall box for FabFitFun, a rundown on which things you can customize for a seasonal subscription and a yearly subscription. Again, $49.99 plus tax if paying per box ($39.99 with this link) or 179.99 plus tax if paying yearly. You get 4 boxes a year: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Each box has hundreds of dollars in full size products inside. There are ZERO samples.

Until next time…

Grove Collaborative Pt 2

I was really excited about receiving my Grove Collaborative order. For the most part, I am thrilled because the products are amazing. I will get into those in a moment, but first, unboxing.

Whoever packed the box took a moment to write, “Thanks” on the packing list. The first thing I noticed was the plastic sealed air. This, of course, made me cringe because this is a company that sells only natural products.

Then, I noticed more plastic in the form of bubble wrap.

Even more plastic in the form of plastic tape on every single bottle emerged. I will show you exactly how much waste was used for packaging at the end. We will get into products first because the amount of waste is just shocking.

This is one of the products I have been super excited about. It is a reusable duster, which is machine washable and I also purchased the refill because I wanted to have a clean duster head while the other was washing.

I zoomed in on the label a bit so it was legible. This is the Dust Whisper microfiber duster, which is made by Full Circle. It is environmentally friendly, replaceable heads, and nontoxic. I tested this duster before I finished unpacking the rest of the box. Before testing, I took it outside and shook it violently to get rid of loose fibers because every review mentioned loose fibers. It looked like it was snowing, but the birds loved it. They were collecting the fibers while I was shaking it.

I wanted to see how this thing worked so, I took it apart. The duster head is a sleeve and it slides onto the wand easily. There are small built in hooks right near the handle, which the heads hook onto with elastic bands.

The bands are invisible once the duster has been fluffed. They went on very easily and came off easily.

I couldn’t believe how much dust and fur this thing picked up with a single swipe. I was originally using Swiffer dusters and in an effort to be more environmentally conscious, I had switched to using dust cloths, which were microfiber. I hated the cloths because I was just moving around the dust and fur. This duster is an amazing replacement for a Swiffer duster. I will be buying more duster heads because of the level of dust and fur that accumulate in a single day from two cats and a Husky/wolf mix. (Miss Mia blew her coat recently so, fur is a real issue.) I definitely rate this a 9/10 and the reason for 9 is because of the loose fibers. Even after shaking this thing violently, I was still losing fibers. I will post another post after I wash a head to let y’all know if it survives machine washing.

Next up, is the Grove Collaborative stoneware tray. This was a free product based on how much I spent. (I purposely added another item to my cart to receive this.)

It is a white stoneware tray, which has Grove Collaborative printed on the outer edge.

It is the perfect size to hold two dish soap bottles and a hand soap bottle. This is a problem solver for me because it prevents pooling water on my kitchen counter from grabbing the dish soap with wet hands. I have had it in place next to the sink since last night and it does prevent pooling water. I love it and give it a 9 out of 10 because I wish it was a different color so I could match it to my kitchen. Sadly, it only comes in white.

This was a bonus gift, which was offered with the Mrs. Meyer’s set through a link from a friend of mine and she is an influencer for Grove Collaborative. So, I used her link specifically to receive this bonus gift. I would share the link, but her link has expired. (It expired a few hours after I placed my order.) This product is the Grove Collaborative 16 oz glass spray bottle with a silicone sleeve on the base.

Pardon my messy table, I was pulling out products and opening them up prior to taking photos. I plan on using this bottle for a concentrated version of Mrs. Meyer’s all purpose cleanser for now, but this may change because it is a glass bottle and can easily be rinsed to change the product without the risk of creating a chemical gas (Gas, like what happens when bleach products and ammonia products are mixed. DON’T MIX THESE!!! I made the mistake so, you don’t have to. It was horrible and we had to open all of the doors and windows for several hours to clear the air.)

This bottle has a removable sleeve and the bottle itself and sleeve are dishwasher safe. The sprayer is not. The bottle is actually sold in a set of 3, with 3 different sleeve colors. I chose gray for my free bonus bottle.

My rating is 10/10. This is not a heavy bottle, it is EXTREMELY lightweight, which is surprising, considering that it is glass. The glass is not very thick, but it is sturdy and well made. The silicone sleeve prevents breakage and allows you to know exactly what is in the bottle because it is color coded (you could easily write on the sleeve with a sharpie)

Next up is the Grove Collaborative Walnut and Cellulose scrubber sponge. (This was part of the free Mrs. Meyer’s set.) I didn’t have very high expectations for this because it’s just a sponge. I made Bulgogi for dinner last night with fried rice (Bulgogi is Korean beef) and clean up usually leaves me bleaching my sponges because of the ingredients used in this dish. I did the dishes last night and the sponge stayed white. I was shocked to say the least. I never buy white sponges because they look disgusting after one sink of dishes. The scrubber part worked just like the scrubbers on every sponge I have ever purchased. It rinsed clean easily and there was no lingering scent from the chili peppers. Definitely a 10/10 and would buy again. I don’t remember the exact price of these, but they were under $3.00 (I almost bought extra, but I wanted to try them first.)

This is the Mrs. Meyer’s Cleaning Set. The little bucket (I think it is actually a “cleaning caddy”) is smaller than I thought it would be, but it is a perfect size for two rolls of toilet paper. It is currently under my sink waiting for a new home. It also has a Grove Collaborative stamp on it and only comes in white. It’s well made and I give it a 9/10 because it only comes in white. I understand that white makes things look cleaner, but I prefer colors.

Close up on the stamp.

The last three pictures are the three Mrs. Meyer’s products that come in the cleaning kit. You can choose your own scent. I chose Honeysuckle because it is my favorite Mrs. Meyer’s scent. I love Mrs. Meyer’s products and I wish they didn’t have to come in plastic bottles, but I reuse these as much as possible. I use the dish soap bottles for stain remover, which I make from a recipe. I refill the spray bottles with concentrate of the same product or remove the label and they get used for all sorts of things. The hand soap bottle gets refilled with a refill from Mrs. Meyers.

These next photos are the products I purchased to receive the free Mrs. Meyer’s set, the glass spray bottle, and the Stoneware tray.

I was so excited to find a baby formula of Dr. Bronner’s castile soap. I LOVE this soap. I use it in all of my recipes for bathbombs, shower jellies, etc. I also bathe the cats with it when they get into something. (I had to bathe them constantly as bottle fed kittens)

I had run out of apple cider vinegar. So, I bought some more.

This is a new product for me and I hope it makes my wood floors shine. It’s a squirt and mop formula for those days when I don’t want to fill a bucket with mop water.

This is the vinegar based floor cleaner that I have been hoping works as the reviews stated. Its supposed to remove the cloudy buildup on wood floors.

I have mopped the ENTIRE downstairs with this floor wash. It calls for 1/2 a cup of floor wash per 2 gallons of water. I boil water for mopping because we have hard water (I add water softener salts to the boiling water) so. I boiled 2 gallons of water, added the water softener and mixed up some mop water. I swept the floors while the water was cooling a bit. I mopped the entire downstairs which has mostly hardwood flooring, but also has tile and linoleum peel and stick tiling (I despise peel and stick tile). I also mopped the wood staircase. My floors are definitely clean. They aren’t sticky, the vinegar smell dissipated very quickly and all I smell now is oranges. It did NOT remove the waxy looking residue from previous cleaners, but I am not giving up since this was just one mopping session. The most shocking thing was the mop water when I was finished. It was almost black. I mop daily and the water only gets that gross when I have a house full of people who forget about the shoe rule. The water was downright nasty. So, I am assuming that this is part of the gross buildup on my floors…. dirt. Gross. The peel and stick tile is a nightmare to clean. It has texture so, it always looks dirty and I use melamine sponges (magic erasers) to wash the floor on my hands and knees most of the time. I go through about 3 sponges each time I deep clean the floor. They disappear while cleaning so there is nothing left when I finish a sponge. This floor wash cleaned the floor so it didn’t look dirty after mopping it. I am beyond thrilled with this product. I will probably end up putting a solution of product and water into a spray bottle to clean the wood trim all throughout the house. I don’t feel any sand or grit after the floors are dry so, I’m giving it a 10/10. I will definitely continue buying this product.

This is another new product for me. I just scrubbed down the white subway tile, which makes up the downstairs bathroom shower. I have had a miserable time keeping this shower clean so, I’m hopeful that this daily shower spray helps. The scent is ylang ylang, which, smells a bit perfume like and a bit flowery at the same time. Difficult to describe, but I use the essential oil in other things so, I know it’s a scent hubby won’t despise. Other options were peppermint and lavender I believe and he hates peppermint and I don’t do lavender. I will keep y’all posted on how this works out.

All in all, I am happy with the products and I will probably keep my VIP membership because the stores in my small town don’t carry much in terms of natural cleaners. I can find apple cider vinegar and that’s pretty much it. I order a lot of cleaning supplies from Amazon, but they only carry some stuff. So, being able to get everything in one place, with free shipping, and free products 4 times a year, is worth 13 bucks a year. (I believe the actual price is $12.99)

I know I said I would show you how much waste packaging I had at the end. Prepare yourselves, this is really bad.

The excess packaging filled the box. I can compost the paper, but we don’t have any recycling programs anywhere near us. Hubby offered to go to the recycling center (over an hour away) so, I would not feel guilty about tossing the plastic. I post cardboard boxes from Amazon for free on buy sell trades and usually include the sealed air with the boxes. I post them for free because boxes are hard to find when you are moving. Hubby is just going to take the entire box from Grove Collaborative with all of our aluminum cans to the recycling center next time he goes. We will have to pay to recycle the Grove Collaborative box and packing materials, but I am okay with that if it means it doesn’t end up in a landfill. There was a 6 ft long strip of sealed air (the airbags they use for shipping), at least 4 feet of plastic tape, and 4 things of bubble wrap. I don’t understand why they don’t just use recycled paper and avoid the plastic all together or why they don’t switch to paper based tape with embedded string for strength. This was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen from a natural products company. I have send an email and when they asked me to review my shipping experience, I also said something about it in the review. This is not okay and I do hope they stop using massive amounts of plastic shipping materials. I hope this review of Grove Collaborative is helpful for you. If you do decide to purchase using the link above, I will receive a $10.00 credit when you checkout after using my Grove Collaborative link. Thank you in advance. I can always use extra cleaning supplies. 😁 Until next time…

Reviews of Products and/or Companies

I Am Finally Trying Out Grove Collaborative (Pt 1)

So, today, I ordered from Grove Collaborative, which is a company that sells natural products from brands such as Dr. Bronner’s, Burt’s Bees, Seventh Generation, and my favorite, Mrs. Meyer’s. I have seen their yearly special for a free 5 piece Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning set for a few years now. (The link above will take you to this special offer and if you do sign up, I recieve a $10.00 credit with your first purchase. I want to be absolutely clear about this aspect.)

As I have recently stopped using as many harsh chemicals while cleaning my home and I am a huge fan of Mrs. Meyer’s honeysuckle products, I figured all it would cost me was taking a few moments to cancel a VIP membership (If I decided that $19.99 wasn’t worth free shipping for a year from Grove Collaborative plus other benefits like auto-shipping, first access to sales, etc.) and purchasing a few other products, which I was already running low on and they are EXTREMELY difficult to find where I live. Dr. Bronner’s castile soap is one of those things I simply cannot find anywhere near where I live. Personally, that twenty dollars a year is completely worth it. I pay more than that for Amazon Prime. From what I can tell, every product they sell is environmentally friendly and free from harsh and difficult to pronounce chemicals.

I have signed up for the free cleaning set and have a temporary VIP membership. I simply wanted to share the link, which Grove Collaborative provided, to the FREE 5 – piece Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning set. I spent a little bit more than the minimum for the free gift set, which was something like $30.00 (US) (FREE SHIPPING) and they added on another little goody, which was a cute little stoneware tray.

I have been using Mrs. Meyer’s products for a few months now and I am in love with the dish soap. I have been a loyal user of Dawn dish soap for most of my adult life. I still have Original Dawn, the blue one, in the soap dispenser at the kitchen sink because hubby uses it to get grease, motor oil, and all those gross fluids from the garage off of his hands. I also use it to get those fluids out of his clothes. Some cleaning products, I will still use for specific things.

I have been cleaning my entire house with bleach or CaviCide for years. So, switching to more natural cleaning products has been a very difficult transition for me because I have no idea if these products are going to kill all of the nasty germs and viruses that can make you sick. I will continue to clean my bathrooms with CaviCide, which is a hospital grade disinfectant, until I know how effective the natural alternatives are at killing specific things like MRSA, Staph, the Flu virus, and other dangerous germs.

I have been cleaning with these extreme chemicals because I have a compromised immune system, which means the flu is deadly and the common cold is deadly. I am careful and rather obsessive about keeping everything clean because I absolutely HATE hospitals. However, these chemicals aren’t all that good for me either. CaviCide requires the use of a mask, gloves, and rinsing surfaces afterwards. Bleach also requires gloves because I have very sensitive skin, but I don’t have to wear a mask.

So, in an effort to be both more environmentally conscious and switch to more natural products, I have been trying the different brands of natural cleaners. Most have been found on Amazon, but Grove Collaborative has brands I have never heard of as well as all of the brands I am familiar with. They have so many options, it is fabulous. They are also priced very well compared to what I have been paying elsewhere.

Being a barefoot kind of girl, I don’t want bleach or remnants of CaviCide being absorbed through my skin, from walking around barefoot. So, I will be trying different options for the hardwood floors, which I mop daily because I don’t want dirty feet from walking around my home. Having a dog who likes to dig and scratch at the dirt outside, means that dirt comes inside. It comes in, even though there is a huge area rug in front of the door once you walk inside, shoes are not allowed, and I vacuum constantly. No matter what I do, dirt comes inside. So, I purchased a vinegar based floor cleaner. It had amazing reviews and many said that it removed the haze from their wood floors. We shall see if it lives up to the reviews. I like things that smell good, but I don’t want to breathe in aerosol air fresheners so, scented cleaning products is a plus. Neither of my current two go to cleaners smell good. Not even lemon scented bleach covers up the bleach smell.

As I just ordered this set today, I can’t show you photos, but I will post, with photos, once it arrives. I am looking forward to trying new products and having refills of those I am already using. As for the Mrs. Meyer’s set, I already use the hand soap, the dish soap, and the all purpose cleanser. I have never seen a walnut based scrubbie sponge, but I look forward to trying it out. I also look forward to the little cleaning bucket. I love buckets and baskets. This bucket won’t be used for cleaning. It will most likely end up in one of the bathrooms holding bath products or something similar. It is super cute.

I am looking forward to this package arriving because I really can’t wait to try this vinegar based floor cleaner. I went with mandarin orange for a scent because citrus is a clean scent and less perfume-like compared to scents like lavender. I love lavender, but it gives me a headache of I have to smell it nonstop or if a whole house smells strongly of lavender. Hubby likes lavender too but not the whole house smelling of lavender. Citrus scents seem to dissipate much faster and smell clean and fresh instead of like I used a whole can of air freshener.

Once the package arrives, I will write a post with information about my experience with Grove Collaborative, as well as a short review of each product in the set and those I purchased in addition to the set. If you wish to check out this gift offer, just click here or on the Grove Collaborative links that are highlighted throughout the post. Again, I am not an affiliate and to my knowledge, I only benefit from the link if you purchase from that link. I have made a purchase to receive this gift set and I purchased additional items. You can change the items they place in the cart, which are suggestions. If they say “Free” they are part of the gift set and cannot be removed. However, you can choose the scents for the Mrs. Meyer’s products. I have personally used Bluebell, Lemon Verbena, and Honeysuckle. They all smell really nice. Bluebell is a quite strong flowery scent. The Lemon Verbena and Honeysuckle are rather light scents. I cannot comment on the other scents as I have not tried them. I hope you enjoy the gift offer of you are looking for natural products (They have everything from baby care, cleaning products, and even hygiene products, which is awesome.) Keep an eye out for Part 2 of this segment. Until next time…
